Drs. Britton Niles and Tim Lower (@TheNewPhenomenologists) - Alaska
The NEW Phenomenologists comes to you each Wednesday from 2:00-3:30ish on UAF's, KSUA 91.5 FM. During the show, The NEW Phenomenologists present entertaining and insightful information about the roles that psychology and psychological experience play in our contemporary cultures and societies. By doing so, we hope to offer the general community increased opportunities to experience how the science of psychology informs their everyday lives. Dr. Lower, Host, is assistant professor and chair of the department of psychology at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Dr. Lower's academic training is in cross-cultural research psychology. He investigates both species typical behavior and culturally rooted cognition. To do so, he often utilizes topics of high interests to the general public. His recent research has focused on the development of a quantitative language analysis method that identifies variation in expressed cognition (Quantitative Phenomenology). Dr. Niles, Hostess and Distributor of Happiness, is a term Assistant Professor in the counseling program at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Dr. Niles's doctorate degree is in Multi-Cultural Counseling and Psychology. Her research has encompassed efforts aimed to improve wellness for multi-cultural populations. Dr. Niles’s Happiness segment is intended to expose listeners to topics intended to increase their own experience of emotional wellness or happiness.
